The Manchurian...
...Candidate!
-> Very Slow at the beginning!
-> Excellent acting by Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington and the other guy!
-> Made for lovers of Conspiracy Theories!
-> I liked it!
-> Last movie that I can watch for only 1$ until another 2 months!
-> Nothing to do with Chicken Manchurian Triple Rice which I so terribly miss now! :(

Its Thanksgiving time...
...here in the USA and for the Americans its a time for getting together with their families and doing loads of shopping. For me it was strictly the later! I learnt that almost every store has a post-thanksgiving sale where they slash the prices by more than half with the catch that this sale happens only on the day after thanksgiving and that too for just 5 hrs...from 6 am to 11am! What a cruel marketing stratergy...considering that temps hang arnd zero deg. celcius in the mornings here! Those Blood Sucking Leaches! Still I was not going to let the system beat me! Me and a roomie (who agreed to accompany me...cuz he desperately wanted to buy a hometheatre system cheaply) got up at 6am, padded ourselves with 3-4 layers of clothing and made our way to the local Walmart on foot! As per the tradition here, the previous night we had made a visit to Walmart and drew out a mental map of the aisles that held our coveted goods. S0 once we got there we wasted no time and waded through jam-packed aisles and found our booty comfortably. I returned a satisfied shopper and a proud owner of new sox, sweaters and a tee-shirt!
My watch said 8 by the time we got home!...We decided there was still some time to take advantage of and off we went (walking again :( in the chilly breeze) to the local JCPenny...and heres where I found the motivation for making this blog!
I found a SOUTHPARK tee :)
I ve been vainly hunting for a southpark teeshirt for a while now (in Bombay) and was glad when I finally came across one! Its a tee frm the episode "Lil Crime Stoppers" which shows
Cartman in a cop's attire and the words "RESPECT MY AUTHORITY" written beneath :D All this might seem very hollow to neone who is not a Southpark fan. But if u belong to the other half of the world which absolutely loves Southpark ull know what Im talking abt! That episode is one of the funniest Ive seen! Was so elated...ended by buying another sweater here for no reason! Needless to say..I returned home a happy man! I wonder if women feel satisfication something along these lines when they shop. I have gottobe careful! ;)

A joke...
...I heard on Jay Lenos "Tonight Show" goes like this!
Jay was saying..."So everyone has heard about the fact that Colin Powell has resigned. But it is said that hes going to hang around for a while to help Rice get used to her new office. I guess that makes him a ; "
OK...as I type this out it doesnt seem all that funny but it was when I heard it!

My hair...
...is something that I have been experimenting with for a while now. As a kid I was blessed with thick black hair...a fact which my mom took great pride in and made sure my ears were half covered through the better part of my schooling years. When self-awareness kicked in I resented all the pictures in my family album and promptly cropped my hair real short. For 2 years I kept it that way resisting my mothers threats, requests, pleadings and what not! Then just an year ago I decided it was time for 80's rocker style long hair look on me! Many said I wud look bad...but I remained dogged. My logic was, and still is simple...how will I ever know if Ill look better or worse without really trying it. Besides theres the fun and variety aspect to it too. However a trip to 'Tirupathi' and then an impulsive decision based on the science of better aerodynamics just before I ran the Mumbai half-marathon (15th Feb 2004...yeah we ran in memory of all the guys who spent the previous day single!) resulted in me shaving my head bald twice in 2 months.
After that I decided that I was not letting any scissors touch my hair until it was of shoulder length. I had even done some research as to how to go about doing it on the net! I thought I was all set and with my keen interest it wud be an easy 6-7 months before I looked like Tom Cruise! Alas...it wasnt going to be so easy! Firstly, if u r South-Indian and are used to not combing ur hair for a couple of years..then the impact of a trying to manage a crop of twisting and turning and irritatingly curly hair which has absolutely no chance of looking well kept except if u emptied out a dozen hair gel bottles onto ur head can be quite rough! Couple that with the very high risk of your professor not appreciating your sudden transformation into a road side romeo and expecting you to look decent (im not saying theres nething wrong with that) on the day of your final B.Tech project presentation....and the result was me making a trip to the local hairdresser and telling him the same thing Ive said for a long time..."Chota kar do...kangi nahin karni hain".
The last time I had a haircut was 3 months. This is going to be my second attempt at growing my hair. It has again reached the irritating stage and I am back to looking like a dork :(...I have survived major impulses to get it cut and the reason why I am bloggin now is also to survive another one! My prof here (who is non-American) either seems to be quite cool or is secretly planning to tell me sometime that I desperately need a haircut! I hope its the former! I know its going to be a long road ahead and all I can do is wait and pray that I complete this difficult journey and make it to my destination. And when I do...I shall be an inspiration to all. :)
